RETENTION 101
-
Retention is how long a client stays in our world.
National average for retention is 8 months. We strive for our clients to stay with us for 2 years.
-
Every class is an audition for someone’s membership and whether or not they will come back to your class.
If you hope to get anyone results, they need to be around long enough to do so. Clients aren’t like you, they won’t stick around just because it’s good for them, they need
Reminders of their progress
Encouragement
Someone noticing if they haven’t been there…(and telling them you missed them)!
To know you care about them in and outside of the studio
To feel progress,, connection, and care
ENERGY
-
Celebrate client wins in class or on socials
“omg your planks are getting so much stronger”
“look at you Marsha for staying the toes all through Saw”
Adults seldom get a pat on the back! Let’s be the place that recognizes their efforts
Celebrate client Milestones (and submit them)
Ask about what’s going on in their life and remember it when they come in next
Check their notes in class and make the personal touches to help them through the hard stuff (don’t ignore it)
Market yourself and how ppl will feel once they leave you.
Build Partnerships in the Community that build trust in you as a Coach.
Follow other instructors that you admire and try what they are doing!
-
Always think about why you started and what made you not only keep going but fall in love so much that you wanted to become a coach. Be the coach that made you fall in love for someone else.
-
Outside of classes, the C(LP) Team works at retention in a few ways:
Goal Reviews: Interviewing clients every 3-4 months to update goals and keep clients thinking about their next achievement
You can always see these updates in client notes
Client Follow-Up: Haven’t seen a client in a while? We follow up with clients to make sure they are staying on track with their goals
Building Partnerships: Building partnerships to provide our clients with special perks and experiences as a result of being a C(LP) member
Marketing Automations: Encouraging clients to stick with their goals, giving them materials to continue to boost motivation, and push through!
Build Studio Experiences: Think challenges, small touches, upgrades, or anything that helps clients feel like this is their “spot” that they can’t wait to tell their friends and family about
-
Retention is one of the most vital components of keeping C(LP) alive, your classes full, and having people share your name around town as the class they can’t get enough of.
Be the coach who notices.
Be the coach who cares.
Be the coach they talk about as “the class I can’t miss.”
