SPECIALTY GROUPS
SCOLIOSIS
-
Backache or low-back pain
Fatigue
shoulders/hips appear uneven
Spine curves abnormally to the side
-
Congenital (present at birth): scoliosis is due to a problem with the formation of the spine bones (vertebrae) or fused rubs during development in the womb
Neuromuscular: caused by poor muscle control, muscle weakness, or paralysis due to diseases
Idiopathic: unknown
-
We can help from the curve from getting worse although it won’t reverse the problem.
If someone has low/mild scoliosis:
Work within comfortable range of motion
Avoid aggressively rotating pelvis
Always ask the client how it feels when adjusting the core especially in plank based moves
